I would go with iso or sevo for anesthesia, I don't know if halothane is safe. Some vets don't run blood work and that may be okay. It comes down to how much of a chance do you want to take? Yorkies are overbred and therefore have lots of disease. Why not just run the blood work and be safe? I wouldn't go to a vet that won't run it... If I got another Yorkie I would also do a bile acid test before surgery.
