I keep the facial hair short too. It seems to solve the problem. Baxter puts his whole face in his water bowl, and he was dripping water all over the wood floors too. So now I trim the hair around the face and beard, and it's much better. Although I still keep a small towel handy to wipe his face when he drinks. He walks over to me now and looks up at me as if to say, "Mommy, wipe my face"!
