I moved out at 19 and am 22 now. I'm in southern California, so bills can get pretty high. But it makes you stronger to be on your own. I think the best part for me (that made me stronger) was that my mom refused to help me. She lives up the street from me and makes a GREAT living, but whenever I ask to borrow money, she tells me no and to "figure it out!" Now, I'm 22 and feel like I'm 10 steps ahead than most of my friends that still live at home. I don't think there is anything wrong with living at home, but this was a good path for me to take. I feel good about myself because I've already accomplished so much. |
