They are not on them all day.

If you were to do any research on Retired Racing Greyhounds you would learn that they are muzzled a lot from they time that they are born. When a greyhound races they wear a basket muzzle to protect their very thin paper type skin. They have no body fat to speak of and they have very very little hair for protection compared to many/most breeds. I can show you pictures that would rip your heart out just from the speed of a GH hitting a tree branch, or even a fence. A muzzle just keeps the animals safer than without.

I live on 2.5 acres fully fenced. When my GH wants to do what they do best, which is run at speeds up to 40 MPH in a matter of 3 strides....they wear their muzzles. I KNOW I am being a good pet owner by doing this.

My GH'S are not agressive in any way, most GH'D arn't. But, on the off chance that in meeting a new pup that is as small as a toy to a GH, it was done to protect the new baby.

I am not in anyway trying to start an argument, but I would think that as responsible pet owners, a person would please ask quesions before making judgements as to the happyness of a hound in a muzzle. They are very used to eating and drinking with a muzzle on. You would be amazed. Mine are given a treat when a muzzle is going on and off: and get so happy because they know that they are going to get to RUN RUN RUN!!

As a new Yorkie owner, I hope I am able to learn from you all as much as you may be able to open up to different breeds and understanding the vast differences in all animals.
