Some rescues have issues you need to work on, and some are very happy and well adjusted off the bat. Either way you would be putting in work for a rescue or a new puppy. If you go the route of a puppy, make sure its reputable breeder, not a broker, or backyard breeder. As far as pure breed goes, in the end its still a dog. You may start looking for a pure breed, but come across a mix that steals your heart. One of my boys is a rescue and a mix, he is the sweetest dog I have ever come across (and I'm not just saying that because he is my dog).
