That is probably not too much as long as they don't get diarrhea... Have you tried alternating with plain yogurt? It is so good for them.
I would insist on a puppy eating ATLEAST three times a day even if that meant forcing. Your pup would probably be just fine eating twice but hypoglycemia can equal ER visits at 2am and I wouldn't be up for that.
