I had 2 Moluccan cockatoos (that I've posted photos of before) for 18 and 20 years that both died within the last year and a half. I won't live long enough to get over losing them . I LOVE birds of all kinds! Fern is a really cute name for your bird!
Are ring necked doves the really tiny ones? I'd love to have an aviary with finches, doves, and button quail.

Sorry to hear about your cockatoos! They are beautiful birds as well.
