I have had parakeets that only stayed in their cages, and I had a love bird that I had to give away. She would not stay in her cage, no matter what, and of course, she really needed to be out. But our Yorkie goes nuts over birds. The parakeets made her very nuts! One day I came home from work and found the love bird walking around the cat in the middle of the room. Thankfully the cat didn't care.
But our Yorkie was locked in her kennel, which saved the bird's life. Since I could not trust the two together, I gave the love bird to a friend. I miss her!
