Lida Rose can't use the frontline plus even in a reduced dose. When I first treated her with it, the hair around the area I put it started falling out, and that continued down her spine around her head and then her sides. It was like as the medicine moved the hair fell out. I took her back to the vet (she was on 1/2 tube) and he switched her to the advantix. He told me that some dogs were allergic to the frontline, especially smaller ones, just like some people are allergic to certain soaps or medicines. He did not think it was life threatening but said like any allergy it could be. Since switching her now her hair is starting to grow back. She would also drool right after the application, when I first got her she had been treated but she was drooling then too. Other than that I use the frontline plus on my other 2 without any problem but to make things easier they will all get the advantix next time.
I think it's an individual thing just like shampoo preference or cold remedies, our dogs are each unique and we use what works best for each one. I hate using things like that but the alternative is worse!
