I have had this issue...I take a treat in my hand and hold him then palm the treat in your fist. Then let him smell for it and gently assure him that he is going to get the treat let him smell your hand and as he licks you hand pull it away slow and start opening your fist.. IF he tries to lunge pull your hand back and make him wait for it.. have him sit still and place your fist back in front of him and let him sniff again.. THEN open your palm and give him the treat. Then repeatbut holding the treat longer.. This worked for me several times .. just like everything eles it just takes time
