Default Pools

This post made my heart stop. Just last week I lost my little Yorkie to a pool accident. Somehow she managed to get out and my neighbor found her when they took the cover off their pool. They always propped their gate open for their convenience!!! She probably just walked right in and once under the cover there was so getting out. I have made myself sick thinking of that poor little dog struggling to get out.
We have a pool, Molly could swim. We took her in alot. She was to small to be able to climb out, even from the steps or swim outs. Our only solution was to put a fence around the pool so she couldn't fall in!!
We have extra wide steps and swim outs at ever corner but there is no way she would have ever been able to get out. The neighbors had one of those floating covers. Personally I think they should be banned.
I know I share in the responsibility because Molly got out. That will haunt me till the day I die. But they also should not have had an open gate! I told them I better not ever see that gate propped open again, ever. The next call they may have to make is to tell someone they just found their child in their pool.
Sorry this is long.....this topic just hits me so hard.
Please, please be careful with these little dogs and pools.
