my yorkie has a cotton coat. i use a slicker brush on her to help keep the mats out. in those hard to reach places like armpits and belly i keep them shaved down. you can't notice it because its hidden by all the other hair.

Gracie's hair is not long enough yet, but I kept Nat's belly and armpits shaved down as well... just did the same with Mia today.... she lays flat bellied on the carpet and it makes for a mess.... so shaved down, it's much easier to care for and like you said, you'd never know it since the long coat covers it up...
I just started using the Ice On Ice a couple of months ago and LOVE IT... don't know how I'd keep up with them without it!
