I used to to Gracie's top knot by putting her in my lap facing away from me. When I got Sugar at 17 months I tried doing his the same way and he would fight me. One day I put him on the table just to do a quick adjustment to his pony tail and he immediately layed his head on his paws and stuck his little butt in the air. It was how he had been raised to have his hair done and I just didn't know. After that it was sooo much easier!
