True, if you are giving other supplements/foods with carrier vitamins in addition. (Thus why they add Vit D to milk) Without, it won't be effective and too much can actually be harmful. The calsorb mixed into the pudding works because it is already fortified w/ Vit D. A tums alone without other supplements is not going to help any.
