I just rescued my newest yorkie Mochi from a animal shleter and he has this EXACT same problem. he make s little couch noise than this weird wheeze/air escaping gagging noise. Sometimes with a tiny bit of throw up (but I think that is a separate problem from the anesthesia from the neuter he just had yesterday), usually it's just the noise and nothing comes out. This happens when he gets too excited usually or has a big toy carrying around in his mouth. Did you ever find out what this problem was?
The vets that did the neuter didn't report any health problems to me after his check out up but I am wondering if I should take him to my vet too just to be safe?
