Mine cries a little when I turn off the lights and leave his area to go to bed as well but he stops after a few minutes.
However, in the morning, he does cries when he gets up around 7AM until I get out to play with him. He has his pad, food, water and toy in the area with him so I guess he's crying because he wants to be near his mommy.
