I think that was a dominant behavior and not a sexual one. Dogs will still "hump" to assert dominance.
Some neutered dogs DO still hump though. From what I've read, the earlier you neuter, the less likely. Gizmo still does it sometimes, but not with the frequency he did before he was neutered.
