Yes, I think that all dogs, and maybe especially small dogs, have nervous episodes. One suggestion I would make that I found helpful, is not to react yourself at all to what may be the problem. For example, the loud noises, etc., may be disturbing to you but if you do not show any kind of reaction or say anything like, "it's OK, don't worry, etc., and do not pick up your dog, he will feel that there is nothing to be concerned about.
Also, I make a point of exposing Remi to unusal noises, such as the shredder or the tractor lawn mower and any other loud noise when we are out, without saying a word to him.
