The Los Angeles Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Group

Celebrating our love of yorkies. We share stories and tips about raising these rascally terriers. The members enjoy each others company while our 4-legged kids romp and play. It's a huge play date where "kids" and "parents" alike have a great time!

This group is a social and support group for yorkie lovers. While we do welcome contributions, sponsorship and love to learn about businesses that support our Yorkies, please do not join this group as a sole purpose to "promote" your business.

About Us:
The Los Angeles Yorkshire Terrier Meetup group offers membership for dedicated Yorkie lovers. The Yorkshire Terrier breed is relatively young (about 100 years) and has its origins in Scotland, from which they were brought to the Yorkshire region, England in about the mid-19th century. Despite the breeds youth, Yorkies have been ranked in the top 3rd-6th most popular dog breed by the AKC over the last several years. Yorkies are wonderful and it is no wonder they are so popular. Their wonderful temperament, sense of self-importance, loving nature, and sometimes downright stubbornness is packed in a small, beautiful, soft and silky package with sparking eyes, an intelligent stare, and never say die attitude.

The Los Angeles Yorkie Meetup Group meets typically at least twice a month to celebrate this breed. We have been adding additional meetup recently at new locations within the greater Los Angeles area to accomodate our large membership, some who travel great distances. Our members trade stories about our little ones and watch them scamper and play at the monthly meetups. These are great opportunities to meet new friends, share ideas, and get advice for our favorite breed, such as:
* Who's a good vet?
* Do you know a reliable sitter?
* Should I get the baby teeth pulled?
* Where'd you get that beautiful dress/coat/bow? (teehee)
* How did you ???????

We generally meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month; the latter is the United Yorkshire Terrier Meetup Day. Close to 1,000 members from from 14 different cities meet on the same day (just imagine all that yorkie love energy). More Yorkshire Terrier Meetup groups are forming all the time and thousands of yorkie owners are waiting to join.

Memberships aside, we are a group who enjoy each others' company and the company of our 4-legged pals. Our group welcomes all members - both new and past. This group is soliciting ideas from the membership to make this Meetup Group better and the meetups more satisfying for all who attend. We encourage active participation from all our members - after all, the more the merrier.

In addition to the monthly get togethers, the San Diego Yorkie Meetup site offers a Message Board for posting ideas, interests, and questions. Tools are available for emailing members, posting pictures and files to share with all members. Always feel to email your questions or ideas to the organizer by clicking Contact Me for the Organizer on our meetup website.

Whether you have a yorkie, had a yorkie, or want a yorkie; you are sure to find people who share your interest at our monthly meetings.
