Mine stay in the kitchen in an x-pen and I keep a radio on a Classical station. When they see me getting my shoes and coat they run into their pen because they know they will get a special treat and certain toys. They are so busy with their treats that they barely hear me leave. When they were younger and cried a bit I would leave a little early and just stand outside at the door to see how long they carried on - I only had to come back in twice to hush them.
He has access to the living room and bedroom. I made him a little house out of a box that has all his toys and blankets in it. I do give him a treat when I leave. Sometimes I leave the TV on, but I started worrying about my electric bill so I stopped. Nobody is available to come see him. He is trained to pee pads. I've tried coming home on my break to visit him, but it just makes him worse. I don't understand how he barks consistently because when I leave and come home he is quiet, even before I open the door, I listen and I dont hear a sound. I think I'm going to try the PetSafe Ultrasonic Bark Control Pet Training System or something like that.
