Did the vet do a stool test? Hope so. It could be stress from the new puppy, it's not super likely - but it can happen; the digestive system overall (like in humans) is very vulnerable to stress. Can you give some canned pumpkin? Also, you could homecook rice and whitefish for him - that would help.
