He's still growing, so pooping and peeing habits will change as his system matures. Also, "excess" poo is more likely caused by carbs and fillers than by protein - so I kinda doubt it's that. He could be allergic to barley - but you aren't really describing allergies.
What are you giving for chews/treats - could it be that? Also, is the Innova diff. than what the breeder was giving before you got him? If yes, he could still be transitioning.
