How old is your baby? Why did you bring him in? Acting weird? Vomitting? Etc? What kind of food do you feed him?

52 is "high" ... if you've read Mogli's story, I'll warn that it ends poorly. His BUN was over 130. Even at 110 he had good spirits.

Right now you need good news and HOPE. We were told throughout the whole ordeal that they can live normal lives. You can feed them K/D prescription food, give sub-Q fluids to supplement intake, phosphorous binders.

The important thing is to recheck the blood frequently (48 hours) and make sure the BUN isn't going UP more. Run test for lepto, urinalysis for bacteria, etc.

Another thing ... 7-27 is a guideline. Some dogs can have a BUN of 160 and feel fine. Some feel very sick at 50. Every animal reacts different, so if your baby is FINE and normal at 57, that is OK.
