Yes I thought it was quiet young to be taken from her mother too. She was a gift to my daughter for Christmas by her grandmother, so now she is kinda mine and I have fell in love with her. To make a long story short, my daughter is nine and she wanted a yorkie for Christmas and I said no, but her grandmother got one to keep at her house, which if its gonna be my daughters she would never see much cause they live almost two hours away. Soooo, she stays with us and I love that little dog. I just worry so much. Ok back to the point, my vet says a pup can be taken away at 4 weeks, which i think is crazy. But she has done well to be so young. I am proud of her when she uses her pads. She can be a little meany too, any help with how to discipline her without spanking?

She is also very vulnerable to the deadly puppy diseases like parvo until she has all her shots (about four months). Until then, it's not safe for her to walk in areas other dogs have been. The parvo virus can live for months on surfaces and even be brought in on tires and your shoes.
