Animal Smiley 019 Wet the hair before trimming the nail

I have 3 Yorkies and our groomer trims the older ones, but have had to do our baby's as she's not had all her shots yet and don't want to take her to the groomers quite yet. As a newborn (she's from our litter) I trimmed hers and the 2 boys with human nail clippers and that worked well, but she's 14 weeks now and the nails are harder so the clippers won't work. I bought the small scissors type for "puppies and small dogs" and they work very well. We wet the paw really well, push back the wet hair and it helps us to see the nails really well. My husband helps because it really is a 2 person job with these little wiggle worms. We clip very little, wait a couple days and clip again if we didn't get quite enough the first time. Usually we do 2 paws at a time, let her rest and run for a few minutes, then do the other 2. I also read if your baby has very hard nails massage in some baby oil before trimming and they cut easier. I haven't tried that because Tootsie is so small it hasn't been necessary. Eventually, Tootsie will get her nails trimmed at the groomer also, but at least I can do it if necessary. These little puppy nails are sharp as glass and grow FAST!
