I think it's not so much the painting of the wall that they're charging for, but for taping it all off and removing switchplates, light covers, etc. We paid a little over $26k for almost all the interior of the house (minus one room and the detached guest suite), but they also made some wallpaper for a couple of rooms and did a lot of special effects; they had a LOT of switchplates, light rings and covers to remove (and paint also), draperies and blinds they had to protect and they had to cover the entire flooring and carpeting with plastic, not to mention all the furniture, so I think the painting is the easy part for them!
I started to try painting the guest suite ceiling myself.....bad idea (at least in MY case)....I'd rather pay someone to do it; what was supposed to look like clouds on the celiing came out looking more like a smallpox outbreak .

$26,000?? or $2,600???? I thought the $1,000 was bad! I had NO CLUE that painting cost so much! I always do it myself. Thank Heavens!
