I got two sets of foam on e-bay, too. They work great and you can wash the fake fur cover.
I have a set of the pretty wooden ones too (given to me) and I can't tell you how many times I have whacked my ankle on it. OUCH!!! I still use them in my bedroom but I always have to remind myself to not walk into them.
