I can't make an assumption about what happened while he was with the breeder. He may eat all the food for a while. Until he realizes that it's not going to go anywhere.
And like I said, this is just my opinion. My puppies have food available 24/7 from the minute they are born. They never have to fight over food or water. So they just eat what they want, when they want.
