I read a post that said to take puppies the day after birth to have their tails docked and dew claws removed. Mom should also have a cleaning out shot. Then on another post, it said there are down sides to the cleaning out shot. What do you do? Cleaning out shot or not? What are the "down sides"?

Also, what is a good length for the puppies' tails? I would rather know than leave it up to the vet. Porsche's tail is fairly short. Bentley's tail is longer.
