You will need at least a metal comb (buttercomb) and a pin brush. The cheap ones are sharp and hurt many dogs, so they learn to hate grooming time. You will need to spend some $$$ to get some that will last you a long time and your new dog will not hate. I have Chris Christenson (pin brush)and also a Mason Pearson (detangler)
I use Pure Paws products. The are very concentrated so you actually use very little with each bath. There are many products out there and others can tell you what they are using too. Whatever you use make sure it does not have alcohol in it. You will need a shampoo, conditioner and a leave in or spray on conditioner (for the daily brushing) I have also found having a small clipper is handy. I have a Wahl Pocket Pro that I really like. It runs on a AA battery. I have also purchased human personal trimmers, but they don't seem to cut hair very well for very long. |
