I do not believe so, but i could be wrong. However we were referred to a specialist and my husband liked the vet specialist so much he doesn't care if the specialist cost more... he wants to go to only him now. The specialist is VERY HIGHLY experienced. We found out that had we seen the specialist in the beginning when we started having problems we would have actually saved money in the end. Our vet was running test after test and those test bills added up very very fast. The specialist knew after one visit what we needed to do. However our specialist visit was 150.00 for our first visit. All labs and history were sent to him before our visit. We still do routine blood check and urinalysis with our original vet. But seeing a specialist was the best thing we ever did a few months ago. I would definitely see a specialist if your vet is referring you. That's the thing also- you have to be referred by your vet. you can't just decide and go.
