I typically use one per day, but mine (one per dog) can last a couple of days easily (unless of course there is a messy-mess). The pee is absorbed into the layers and the top dries so there isn't really any smell to humans (although I'm sure it smells heavenly to the dogs
). With many of the patterns, the spots don't show. I have several, so I just wash two or three at a time.
