Aww, I just stumbled on this post and see that you got NO responses. Sometimes they fall off the "New Posts" list before anyone with knowledge on the topic sees it and comments.
My rescue Jack had very thin hair when we got him at age 10. Just like you describe, pink skin and very thin. I started him on Missing Link supplement upon advice from YTers, and it's been thick ever since. I have since stopped using it because it's pricey and doesn't last that long in the fridge.
Of course, his eating habits and lifestyle improved too, so I can't guarantee it was the Missing Link.
