I think it depends on the plane. We flew Sukoshi as carry-on on our Midwest flight to Kansas City for the holidays (my return flight is later today), and I was glad I was at the front of the plane because the ONLY bathrooms were at the back, so EVERYONE who needed to go to the bathroom walked past those farther rows. We were at the front, and only the flight attendants walked by. Sukoshi didn't make a sound, but if she had, I would rather have had the few people in the front hear her than ALL the people using the restrooms. Plus, all the walking back and forth could've agitated her
