 newbie with questions
Hi to all. I have just joined after reviewing the site several times. I first visited when my dear Gizmo was ill looking for possible answers. Unfortunately it was cancer and he passed in Sept. Well my husband got me a new guy for Christmas who is 16 months old and only 3.5# which scares me to death that I will hurt him. Gizmo would put him to shame as he tipped the scales at over 9#!!! First thing I need to do is fatten him up but he doesn't seem to like any food that I've tried. After reading other posts here I went with a dry food that has no by products or gluten (Nutro Natural Food) and a wet food with no by products. Hopefully he will start to gain some weight.
I have read here that the smaller dogs can have different health problems and concerns. My question is Topper has very unusual smelling urine not that I am in the habit of sniffing urine but his stomach smells after he goes and it has a burnt odor. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I read today that different dogs different odors but wow he smells. I have trimmed his stomach hair and it reduced the retention of the odor. This little guy is incredibly hairy.
Any suggestions on fattening him up and curing this odor issue would be greatly appreciated.
