I'm not sure what you mean by yorkie puppy food. You can read up about quality dog food in the health & diet forum. Also there is good food info at www.dogfoodanalysis.com - a 4 or 5 star food is best for yorkies.

As other said it is important not to brush a dry coat, as that will break the coat. Use a good conditioning spray or water with some conditioner. I use Cloud Star's Buddy Splash www.cloudstar.com

A quality brush makes a difference. I love the Chris Christensen brushes - I use the 20mm GOLD SERIES PIN BRUSH http://www.chrissystems.com/brushes.htm
I know it's costly, but feel it was worth the investment. A good pin brush is helpful.

Growing a good coat can take time.
