This become a regular problem and tonight my husband was so upset about Sal peeing twice on the carpet within 15 minutes apart. I did take him out just about 5 minutes before. What should we do? I am worried that he will never be housebroken.

He is awfully young to expect him to be fully housebroken. It takes time and a lot of effort. If you don't want to crate him at night so he learns to hold it, get an expen for him. Expens are great to keep them safe while you are away from home anyway. Put him, his bed, and a potty pad in the expen. (cover any carpet in his area with a protective cover...like a shower curtain or plastic tablecloth) If you catch him going potty on the pad, give him a treat and tell him how wonderful he is. Eventually, when you see him using it all the time, remove the expen and he will still go to the same spot.

It works! But may take a couple of months to sink in completely. good luck
