I actually think the spca deserves more for all the care they give. I think it is worth atleast $300 to pay someone for a mix breed dog. I am sure the cost of whelping and raising a litter in a proper way costs no less for a mix than a purebred. I don't think it is too much to ask for a breeder to want to be compensated even if it was an oops and completely their fault. You would want the breeder to make sure your potential pup had all the best in the beginning and that costs money, even for a mixed breed.
