You still have to be very careful about going to short as with any way of trimming nails. I can say I felt like I had a good control on how much nail I was taking off at a time with the various speeds.
Yes the elite is the same as the petite it just has larger holes as well as the smaller ones. If you get the petite you can only do the yorkie's, but if you get the elite you can do them all (collie included). So I suggest getting the elite.
