IMO, it's 100% on how they're socialized. Sully is an 11mo. old male and has never snapped at anyone!

We were told by our vet and also by the trainer at petsmart (and other research I had done) to go thru a list of things every day with Sully when he was a pup. This included massaging his paws, messing with his tail, holding him upside down (like a baby, belly up) etc.....also we took him over to play with my toddler cousins every week, introduced our puppy to all of my coworkers, young and old of all sizes and nationalities, and to our friends, etc.

Now compare how we socialized Sully to someone who's dog has never met another dog, never been petted by a child or had their tail touched by their owner....that is the dog, male OR female it doesn't matter, that's the dog that will end up being more snappy.

IMO.
