i just called my vet.. and they're closed so i called the emergency vet and they said to bring him in.. but then i asked about the benadryl and they said to give him 1/4 a tsp since he's so little..

No, you are just being a concerned owner and you should be.
Benadryl is fine and if the leg is normal by morning I don't even think you have to go to the vet. Maybe just call? The problem with swelling is that swelling can happen inside (throat closure), so just watch. Make sure his gums are nice and pink and if they aren't, take him in immediately.
