I'm sorry you had to go through that. I think they could have tried a little to be more helpful to you.........
My family is awesome when I visit. they know I worry a lot, and I explain the added danger with her size. When I was uncomfortable (with big nephews that are clumsy and I could picture crushing my little girl).....I held her, took her with me out, or put her in our room. When she was wandering around, my Mom and Dad were very good about watching that she didn't go near a door. And also held her for me when they could see I was concerned. So I was happy for that, and would bring her again........
Yes, it was nice they let you bring her....but still. They could have made an effort (just my opinion).....
