The YTCA has been around for many years and they have a geniune concern for the breed. As pet owners I think it's probably smart to understand and believe what they have to say.
While it may be possible to breed tiny healthy Yorkies, why is necessary? There just aren't THAT many people around that should actually own such a tiny creature that requires extra care and caution. As adorable as they are, they are not for everyone. |
I'm going to interject here and I don't know how relevant it is. I'm a breeder/exhibitor.....but, before that I wanted a Yorkie and a Tiny....I based everything on weight. I knew nothing about the standard, just wanted a tiny. As time evolved and I decided I wanted to show, I emersed myself in the breed, soaking up everything...learned that if I wanted to start my own line it would have to be done the way YTCA intended (because this organization didn't get there by snapping their fingers, those that established it have been there and done that and are the foundation of the breed). I learned alot about tinies and how some breeders breed them for the sole purpose of satisfying the market and monetary gains. Why else do we see websites with larger prices on the tinies.
