Um, my experience yorkies are very much lap dogs and very attached to their owners. Would you leave a baby alone downstairs? I wouldn't, but then again I couldn't handle crate training him b/c he would pee in there and then pretty much roll the crate to get free. Sooo. I would recommend keeping him in a crate closer to you. Or um sleep in a bed in your room. What do you have against keeping him with people?
