Yes on the cottage cheese. Dogs need about one ounce of water per one pound of body weight daily. Ellie is almost six pounds, so she should get around six ounces daily. A cup is eight ounces, so she should get three-fourths cup of water (or six ounces) a day. She eats three-fourths cup homeccoked a day. It is about seventy-five percent moisture. That means that she gets between one-half and three-fourths cups a day. That is just under her optiminal intake and I call it good but would like to see her drink a bit more.
Of course this is just a rough estimate and every dog is different.
