Welcome to YorkiTalk and congratulations on your first Yorkie. It is common for babies to yap when they are penned up, left alone of just playing. I would never leave him unsupervised with your big dog. I know some people that have big dogs and little dogs together but it can be risky. I know one of my 3 year old, 3 1/2 lb babies that I sold several years ago got his back broke by a lab that was just playing with him, so it can happen. For that matter they can jump off something high and get hurt or killed. I think the best thing is to set up an exercise pen with is bed, food, plenty of toys and potty pads. If you have to leave or if he is tired just put him in his pen and he will learn that the pen is his safe haven. After he is older and potty trained then he can have the run of the house. Does your big dog stay in the house? Best of luck.
