Maybe she is trying to get away from you?

Seriously, if she is nesting and seeking out her 'quiet space,' she may do like many females and not want anyone around. It's possible that you are crowding her by being on the floor with her. I know you want to be close so that you can help her, but maybe you could use a baby monitor instead--that was she has her privacy, but you can still keep an ear our for what's going on.
