Perhaps another way of looking at things could be to know that by spaying Phoebe, you may be saving her life and preventing her from painful ailments in the future.

A little while ago I adopted a sweet, older female Yorkie named Annie. Because she had not been spayed she had many health issues including mammary cancer, a severe uterine infection and two large tumours in her stomach. The vet told me the mammary cancer and uterine infection were caused directly by her previous owners not spaying her. The tumours may have also been affected indirectly. You can see photographs of these horrific conditions below. Annie died as a result of these ailments on December 17, 2007.

When you drop off Phoebe, please know that the surgery may prevent her from developing these ailments. Having her spayed is a very good thing.

Warm Regards,

Jamie
