I bought my litter box from Petco. It is a Purina Secondnature Litter Pan and it is around $20.00. I bought a bigger pan because I wanted him to have room to move around when he has to go. I just put a piddle pad in it so it never runs on the floor.

I agree with the other posters that Oscar shouldn't have the run of the house until he is fully trained and dependable. My Hercules was always confined to the kitchen or familyroom and watched closely. If we couldn't watch him, he was put in the mudroom with his potty and a gate up. The crate did not work for us. Hercules hated it, he would drool profusely and shake in it, and he almost always pooped in it which created quite a mess for me. I know dogs are supposed to love it, but he never did. I still have it sitting out and he's never voluntarily walked into it yet.

I also strongly recommend Nature's Miracle (also at Petco or Petsmart) for when he does have accidents. Spray that on the spot and it will take the smell away. If you catch him having an accident, pick him up and put him in the litter box. Eventually he will catch on to where he is to go potty.

Hercules now has the run of our house and I have a second litter box upstairs. For some reason if he was upstairs and needed to go, he wouldn't walk all the way down to his potty. But with the second box, he never has an accident.

Be patient, and deligent for the next couple months and you will love the indoor potty system. It really does work like a charm for my family, especially when it is cold and snowy outside.
