[B]I am so sorry to hear this news. I just read the post and I have some observations. Please do not think I am kicking you while you are down but it is NOT! This is an opportunity to educate the public about the pitfalls of in-experienced or non-mentored breeding. Now, I am not saying the puppies would have lived-only God knows that. I know you did the best you could with the knowledge you had. I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU HAVE A MENTOR! so I am not really discussing the help they give. Your vet could have shown you how to tube feed. Had the puppies been checked for cleft palate and lip? Did their tummies blow up like they had gas? Did mom do the pottying and keep them clean? Did they even have butt holes and urine opening? Did the babies have their own heating pad? They could have been preemies--what was the time period for the whole mating process? This is a good reason for limiting the number of days you allow the dogs together to tie..
I am so glad you did not lose all of the babies AND the mom.
If you feel I am being harsh, I apologize. But, if we miss an opportunity to use a particular situation as a teaching tool, we have failed our beloved breed. Your loss will stick in the minds of other members and that is a good legacy to leave behind for those little creatures. Rainbow Bridge has more than ever..
